Location

Whitwick is a village on the edge of Charnwood Forest within easy reach of the motorway network. The Church is centrally situated in the village. The old village community has continued to expand quickly by numerous housing developments in the second half of the twentieth century, and there is mixed housing for about 8,000 people. There is some deprivation and a growing number of elderly people in the area but there is also a number of primary and secondary schools of mixed denominations. Since the closure of the mining industry there has bee a steady increase in job opportunities due to the development of business parks, supermarkets, and a modern leisure centre for the surrounding area.

Our Church

We have a membership of 35, the majority of which are retired. A morning service is held every Sunday and is quite well attended. There is a small Sunday School with a dedicated staff who teach children from three upwards and these children play an important role in our family services.

The building is well used each week both by Church groups and outside organisations. The Bright Hour Fellowship is a thriving Church group that each week attracts a large number of ladies from the community to enjoy a wide variety of speakers and visits. The building is also used by the Broom Leys Choral Society and the Whitwick Retired Peoples Fellowship, both these organisations meet each week and fill the church hall to its capacity. There are numerous occasions when the suite of rooms are used for social events e.g. children's parties, Historical Society - all these activities provide the church opportunities for outreach into the community.

Links exist with other denominations in the village in the form of the body entitled "Churches Together". There are joint ventures held throughout the year and services held at each of the churches at Easter.

Our Mission

Our mission must be to embrace the organisations that use our building throughout the year. A major development area is our work with young people. As more young families make contact with the Church via the playgroup and the baby and toddlers group, we must have in place a system that welcomes communication and participation in all our forums of work, which will enable us to share with them our beliefs in the Gospel.

At present we are an aging congregation but we need to change and expand our fellowship and outreach is without question. Our Church family and our premises play an important role in village life and as such we look to the future with hope.

Worship

Traditional and family worship takes place each Sunday morning at 10.15am.

Evening services take place on a rota basis with Churches Together

March of Witness

 Whitwick March

The people of Hall Lane in Whitwick saw a march of witness go past their doorsteps on Trinity Sunday when around 30 people from Barbara’s section walk from Hall Lane to Whitwick to take part in an open air service.  The Ibstock Brass Band played for the service which took place in bright sunshine.  Around 80 people attended the service and enjoyed the worship, drama and fellowship.
