Safeguarding

For routine child protection queries our local child protection advisors are Eddie Henderson 01530 469369 and Linda Hadfield 01530 274576. These people have direct contact with members of the district advisory group on child protection. If Eddie or Linda are not available the district number for routine child protection queries is 0780 7314648. Where possible this phone will be answered during normal office hours and messages left on the phone will be answered within 24 hours.

Policy for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults

As members of the Ashby and Coalville Circuit we commit ourselves to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and ensuring their care, equal place and status in the life of the church.

It is the responsibility of each of us to prevent the physical, emotional, sexual, financial and spiritual abuse of vulnerable adults and report any such abuse that we encounter or suspect.

We undertake to exercise proper care in the appointment and selection of those who we work with vulnerable adults in the church.
We expect those who undertake this work to take advantage of the support, resources and training which will be made available by the District.
The Church endorses the policy of the Churchs' Forum for Safeguarding following from the Government guidance in "No Secrets"
Each person who works with vulnerable adults will agree to abide by these recommendations and the guidelines established by the District.
The Churches have adopted the following definition of a vulnerable person as being a person who may be at risk and in need as a result of sensory or physical disability or impairment
A learning disability.
A physical illness
A mental illness, chronic or otherwise, including dementia or an addiction to alcohol or drugs.
A reduction in physical, mental or emotional capacity. Or who has for any reason become unable to protect him or herself from significant harm or exploitation.
